Terms & Conditions
A summary of the license agreement that ships with the cmx binary. The full agreement is in the LICENSE file distributed with every release and governs in full.
The short version
Section titled “The short version”- Binary-only license. You receive compiled binaries for personal use. The software is proprietary; source code is not provided.
- Personal use. You may install and run cmx on machines you control, for your own workloads.
- No redistribution. You may not redistribute, sublicense, rent, lease, sell or publicly publish the software or its binaries.
- No reverse engineering. You may not reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the software, or circumvent its technical protection measures, except to the extent applicable law notwithstanding this limitation.
- No commercial hosting. You may not run cmx as part of a third-party commercial hosting, proxying or compression service without a written agreement.
- Updates. Updates are provided under the same agreement and may include automatic update checks, which you can disable with
CMX_NO_UPDATE_CHECK=1. - Your data stays yours. cmx runs locally. Conversation content and credentials are forwarded only to the model providers you configure. Optional cloud features are separately enabled and limited to documented aggregate data; they never receive conversation content or credentials.
- No warranty. The software is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. Liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Termination
Section titled “Termination”The license terminates automatically if you breach it, at which point you must stop using and delete all copies of the software.
